Echo and the Bunnymen Working on New Album and Tour

It’s been five years since Echo and the Bunnymen‘s last album, 2009′s The Fountain, but now it seems we can get ready for new material.

According to a note posted on Facebook, the Liverpool band is working on an untitled new album (although frontman Ian McCulloch has previously referred to it as The Garden of Meedin’) that is produced by Killing Joke bassist, Youth.

“It’s the band’s best work for a very long time,” said McCulloch, describing it as “more like the early stuff with loads of spiky guitars and space” to The Quietus in May of last year.  “The idea is to make the greatest album we’ve ever made. I always go into things thinking that anyway. I’ve spent the last 10 years trying to see where I could go with my voice and if I could write some bridges. Then I looked back and realised we never had any bridges.”

Echo and the Bunnymen will be supporting the record with a world tour. Make sure to follow UTG on Twitter to hear about forthcoming details as they roll in!
