In a year dominated by young performers blurring the lines between indie and pop more than ever, Charli XCX and her quality 2013 offering True Romance (which turns 1 in three days) were overshadowed by powerhouses like Lorde, Haim, and Icona Pop.
Charli continues on undaunted, though, staying in the news for all the right reasons – a fun, punchy new single; a couple of covers; and a spot on Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy.” Now she’s hopping on the trend of YA fiction-turned-blockbusters loading up soundtracks with hip artists. It’s not as cool as covering “I Want Candy,” but it’ll do. Anyway, now that the wave of Divergent tracks has petered out, a new soundtrack must rise in its place.
That soundtrack would be the one belonging to The Fault In Our Stars, and the tracklist just dropped on Saturday. Big names include Ed Sheeran (whose cut will grace the end credits), M83, Lykke Li, and a number of other names you’re apt to recognize. Check out the full list below with Charli’s track, the brief, brisk “Boom Clap.”
The Fault In Our Stars, an adaptation of the hit John Green novel of the same name, is out June 6. The first clip from the film will be premiered on Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards pre-show.
