Lil Wayne continues to build awareness for the forthcoming release of Tha Carter V this morning with the tease of a brand new track that’s likely to surface in the coming days.

While filming a clip for his recently launched Weezy Wednesdays video series, Wayne took a break from talking to the audience about life and feelings to share a new song titled “Side Bitch.” It’s not confirmed at this time that the track will appear on Carter V, but considering this vlog series was launched as a promotional component leading into the record it’s more likely than not it will make the final cut. You can view the video and hear the snippet below, which begins during the final minute of the clip.

The recent material Wayne released has been surprising a lot of people, but as soon as the vocoder kicked in during the video above I felt a chill of familiar mediocrity wash over me. Weezy is best when he’s being himself, and that has never required a vocoder (though fans of “Lollipop” may disagree).

Tha Carter V does not currently have a release date, but we expect it will hit the net sometime over the summer. Stay tuned.
