UTG PHOTOS: Governors Ball Music Festival

Under The Gun sent photographer, Nick Karp, to Randall’s Island in New York City to photograph the Governors Ball Music Festival.

Much has changed since I attended the first Governors Ball Music Festival, including (thankfully) a new location, more days added to the festival, and there no longer being the gimmick of “No Overlapping Set times.” The market to hold a quality festival in New York City has been in the search since the rise of other domestic festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo, and Governors Ball is the answer. 40,000+ people attended the festival in order to watch notable acts including the Strokes, Skrillex, Axwell and Ingrosso, among many more.

Some of the highlights of the festival came from non-headlining acts, including Phoenix’s jaw dropping performance, Empire of The Sun’s spectacle, and The Bloody Beetroots’ thrashy, in-your-face show; one of the most entertaining sets I’ve ever seen.
