Ultimate Painting’s Debut Single Is Your End of Summer Jam

We’re pretty sure we just found the only good thing about summer ending: a new single to soundtrack your final sunsets. Indie rock duo Ultimate Painting are putting out their self-titled debut on October 28 via Trouble In Mind, and lead single “Winter In Your Heart” is what we need right now.

If their voices sound familiar, that’s because Ultimate Painting is Jack Cooper from Mazes and James Hoare from Veronica Falls. The self-titled debut was recorded on tape in Hoare’s flat over the course of a few months, aiming to capture the beautiful simplicity of Ray Davies, early-70s New York City, and the melancholic sigh of Stereolab. It’s all about hazy evenings, retro vibes, and that lazy guitar drawl. With one listen to lead single “Winter In Your Heart,” it’s clear they nailed that sound.
