Stolas Announce New Album, Stream “Solunar”

Following their impressive 2013 debut, Living Creatures, Las Vegas shredders Stolas are already set to release their followup this October. Titled Allomaternal, the band’s newest effort will be released on October 15 via Blue Swan Records.

To coincide with the album’s announcement, the band are currently streaming its lead single, titled “Solunar.” Retaining many of the elements found on their previous release, Stolas are back with a very Blue Swan sound — meaning that they still certainly fit in with their label mates in Hail The Sun, Secret Band, and Sianvar (the latest post-hardcore amalgam consisting of members from Hail The Sun, Stolas, A Lot Like Birds, and Dance Gavin Dance). Adding to that, the band seems to have derived influences from the likes of letlive. and The Mars Volta with many of these sounds being prominent throughout the nearly four-minute track. You can stream it below and decide for yourself.

This time around, it appears by the track listing that Stolas won’t be relying on various guest vocalists as they did on Living Creatures (something I noted that while enjoyable, wasn’t necessary as they could certainly hold their own vocally). This could certainly change, though, as more information is revealed.

In the meantime, you can pre-order a digital copy of the album through Bandcamp and receive a download of the new single. We’ll keep you updated with further information regarding Stolas and the release of Allomaternal.
