Last night on Conan, The Flaming Lips joined Miley Cyrus for a performance of The Beatles’ “A Day In The Life.”
I won’t pretend that this is a shocking performance – take a look at that headline again and ask yourself exactly what you would expect from this kind of collaboration. Things are surprisingly tame until the 1:45 mark, at which point Miley emerges from The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne’s shimmering, silver womb and things get uncomfortable. A drum machine beat drops, and you can essentially guess how things go from there.
