Of Montreal will release their newest full-length, Aureate Gloom, on March 3 through Polyvinyl Records, but as of today, you can stream the entire album over at NPR.org. Check it out and let us know what you think in the replies.
The 10-track effort will act as the group’s first attempt since 2013’s Lousy with Sylvianbriar, and their thirteenth record overall. It was recorded at Texas’ Sonic Ranch, and according to frontman Kevin Barnes, was inspired by the Big Apple.
“I went to New York and just lived out there for two weeks and wrote some songs and kind of just wandered around, similar to what I did when I was on the San Francisco tour for Lousy with Sylvianbriar,” Barnes explained in a recent interview with Stereogum. “The new album is sort of along those lines–not a complete homage to those bands or anything, but that was kind of the spirit behind it.”
Pre-orders for Aureate Gloom are ongoing.
