HOLY SH*T: Ronda Rousey To Star In ‘Road House’ Reboot

UFC superstar Ronda Rousey has just landed the role of a lifetime, and it’s just one of many high profile acting gigs the champion fighter has secured in recent months.

According to a new story from Variety, Rousey is going to be starring in MGM’s reboot of the 1980s cult classic Road House. She will be stepping into the role originally made famous by Patrick Swayze, which would be a challenge for any actor, and so far that is literally all that is known about the upcoming film. MGM is currently seeking screenwriters with hopes of entering production in early 2016, but again, nothing else is set in stone at this time.

Road House has found its way to cult classic status in recent years, thanks in part to the fact that it’s one of the most ridiculous action films ever made. The story follows a legendary bouncer who is hired to help tame what is believed to be one of the baddest bars in North America. Things are easy enough at first, but soon our hero crosses paths with a real bad guy and things begin to spiral out of control at an alarming rate. You can view the trailer for the original film below.

A sequel to Road House, Road House 2: Last Call, was released in 2006. I do not recommend you watch it.

It’s worth noting that Rousey actually has a number of big screen appearances slated for the year ahead. Road House is actually the fourth project being specifically developed for Rousey to star in, following her biopic My Fight/Your Fight at Paramount, The Athena Project at Warner Bros. and the STX action pic Mile 22, which has Peter Berg on board to direct. We’ll bring you more on every title as soon as additional details begin to surface.
