UTG PREMIERE: Fable Cry – “Kidnap The Sandy Claws” (‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’)

Christmas is right around the corner, and to get you in the holiday spirit, we’ve partnered with Nashville, Tennessee’s Fable Cry to debut their wonderfully wacky cover of “Kidnap The Sandy Claws,” a fan-favorite from the 1993 Tim Burton classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas. The outfit’s rowdy re-imagining will appear on Firebreath Records‘ second annual holiday compilation, which drops tomorrow, Wednesday, December 16.

In regards to their latest undertaking, the band shared:

“The holidays are a wild time. The dichotomy of so much celebration and shared joy, at a time of the year when everything is dead and kind of ugly. It’s cold, and trees are bare, the nights are the longest, and everyone is distracting themselves from it. It makes sense, but we don’t feel that those things are necessarily bad. So, when Firebreath Records asked us to be a part of their second holiday compilation album, we wanted to do something that would be both fitting for us, and give people something that they don’t hear covered every year – something that didn’t shy away from the darkness, but decided to have fun with it. Who did this better than the monsters of Halloween Town? After covering “Town Meeting Song” for last year’s compilation, we decided to stick with that trend and do another from ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas.’ We wanted to stay true to the original, but still make it our own. So here it is, and we hope you enjoy our little rendition of “Kidnap The Sandy Claws.”

If you like what you hear, we highly suggest that you also make a point to check out Fable Cry’s eclectic sophomore LP, We’ll Show You Where The Monsters Are, which is available now via iTunes.
