UTG PREMIERE: Flower – “Let Me Down”

Flower

This morning, we’re beyond stoked to bring you “Let Me Down,” the newest single from Atlanta grunge-revivalists Flower. A hazy, hard-hitting number, the outfit’s latest offering is taken from their impending LP, Waste of Life, which is set to arrive on February 5. Give it a spin after the break, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

In regards to the track, vocalist Jack Fowler shared:

“‘Let Me Down’ is one of the darker, more somber songs on the record. We recorded it with our very close friend Andy Clark in his parents’ basement. I don’t have a lot of money, and I knew Andy had mad skills—DIY or die, you know? The song itself is about family and friends, the people closest to you who can crush you with a shrug. It’s probably how I’m wired—I take people’s opinions too seriously sometimes. I’m a dreamer, and that lends itself to a lot of soul-crushing contrarianism from the people who care most about you. It’s an odd dichotomy. I actually considered scratching it from the record altogether. It just felt too personal, but our bassist, Jeanluc [Freeman], and drummer, Adam [Weisberg], really dug it and talked me out of it.”

If you want more, you can catch Flower on the road for the remainder of the month (dates below).
