UTG CONTEST: Win a vinyl copy of The Toxic Avenger’s New LP, ‘Ξ’

toxic avenger

Known worldwide for his brawny basslines and forward-thinking compositions, DJ/producer Simon Delacroix is not your typical turntable titan. Operating under the moniker of The Toxic Avenger, the 33-year-old Frenchman boasts an undeniable ear for the infectious, as is apparent by his extensive and highly-acclaimed back catalogue. There’s an edginess to his lush, layered sounds, and regardless of your feelings towards electronic music, we firmly believe that you’re going to be all about it.

This morning, we’re teaming up with the Avenger to give away two copies of his latest LP, Ξ, which hit shelves on February 12 via Roy Music/Universal France and is limited to 500 copies. It’s a bold, bumpin’ undertaking featuring 12 brand new tracks and some equally stunning album art, so don’t waste time dilly-dallying. All you need to do to enter is:

  • Follow UTG on Twitter @UTGReview
  • Follow Delacroix on Twitter @toxavanger
  • Tweet the link to this article tagging both UTG and Delacroix with the hashtag #ToxGiveaway

Winners will be chosen nest week on Wednesday, March 2. Get in on the action before it’s too late, and peek a quick Q&A with Delacroix below.

Toxic Avenger Vinyl

You just released your new album, Ξ. How’s it feel to have it out and in the hands of fans?

Cool, but scary. This music doesn’t belong to me anymore. I’m always a bit scared to see if people are going to get what I am trying to say with my music.

Sorry, but I have to ask—what’s the meaning behind that title?

It’s a Greek X, but it can also mean 3 stripes, for my 3rd album. It’s also how the devil is represented in ‘The Apocalypse of John.’ Pick your poison!

Do you have a favorite track off Ξ?

I have two, actually: “Close” and “Tear You Apart.” It’s kind of taboo for an artist to say he has some favorite songs on his album, but yes, I really feel like those are the songs where it’s completely, 100% me.

From what I’ve heard, this record is sort of a return to form for you. Could you tell me a little bit about how it came into being?

It was a pretty bad year, 2015—I lost a lot of people. I need to expiate a lot of things, and this album helped me a lot in doing this. It was that moment that I realized I wasn’t in my twenties anymore and that it was time for me to quit doing crazy stuff, taking crazy stuff, etc. And musically, yes, I tried to be as violent as my oldest stuff but without being too saturated.

Do you have any plans to take this material on the road?

For sure! I’ll be touring starting in Spring 2016.
