The last time we heard from Schoolboy Q, he was going in on a new A$AP Ferg track. Today he gave us a taste of what his as-yet-unannounced follow-up to 2014’s Oxymoron might sound like by dropping a video for his new single, “Groovy Tony.”
The Top Dawg Entertainment rapper is in rare form as he employs his characteristic growl over a droning, menacing beat. The video, equally as menacing, stars Schoolboy Q, some dark industrial settings, and a whole lot of bodies. There’s a lot to process in the video, but the crowning moment might be the first-person sequence of Q emerging from a car crash, looking at his own arm aflame, and using it to light a blunt.
