We predicted this (or maybe just prayed for it) back in November. Dave Grohl is the drummer on the new Queens of the Stone Age album, Nick Oliveri sings on a track, and now we know one Mark Lanegan, former vocalist for QotSA and Screaming Trees, has also recorded on the new album. This means that – although Nick isn’t the bassist and thus it probably doesn’t happen on the same track – the peak Songs for the Deaf era QotSA lineup appears on the upcoming record.
We couldn’t be giddier about this. The band told us this in the third person on their Twitter account.
Lanegan came by. He didn’t say much, but he sang good.Troy Van Leeuwen said to Dean Fertita as overheard by Mikey Shoes

You see the featured image of this page? That lineup and then some appear on this record. We’re pumped.
