Do you have 30 minutes for Frank Ocean?
The R&B singer-songwriter recently sat down with Zane Lowe at BBC Radio 1 to dish about all things Ocean. Seeing as how busy Ocean has been over the last couple weeks and months, they had a lot to talk about.
The first topic to come up, of course, was Ocean’s success and experience at the Grammys (“It was quite the roller coaster ..it was a pretty funny moment on stage with me, Jay[-Z], and [The-]Dream…”). But the interview ran the gamut, even touching on Ocean’s follow-up to his highly touted 2012 release channel ORANGE.
Here are some of the highlights:
- Ocean’s favorite color is Pastoral Blue (a paint tint exclusively found on BMWs)
- The greatest obstacle he’s overcome has been inexperience
- He’s an avid watcher of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and, “perfect television” in general.
- The reason why “Acura Integurl” is so short is because a young woman interrupted Ocean’s recording session to give him songwriting advice (!)
And the biggie: Ocean is about, “10, 11 songs” into his sophomore release. No, he didn’t give it a name, but Ocean state the next record would likely feature, “a beach theme”, and build off the feeling of channel ORANGE closer “Golden Girl”.
