Topshelf Records, despite its position as one of our favorite indie record labels, has never before charted on the Billboard 200; yesterday, the label e-mailed members of emo post-rockers The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die saying some good news. The band posted the following e-mail from Topshelf’s Seth Decoteau on their personal Instagram accounts:
“GREAT NEWS. We’ve charted on a few place for first week sales:
#8 internet
#66 rock
#3 heatseekers/new artists
#3 vinyl
#196 billboard top 200
This is our first ever release in the Billboard top 200.
Congrats!”
While the rest of the Billboard charts are still unknown for this week (and some of this information leaves us curious – who was higher on Heatseekers?), it is good to see an album we loved so much debut so strongly. Perhaps this is a sign of Topshelf’s future potential. When the rest of the charts are out, we’ll let you know any other surprises.
