First Impressions is a segment where we let you into our early thoughts on a highly anticipated album, This week, we have our early views on As Cities Burn’s Reach Hell or High Water. It drops in April from Tooth and Nail Records.
This album may only have two and a half weeks until release, but it seems the anticipation has been around forever. Being the third release for any band sets the bar pretty high, but when your first two records were polar opposites in terms on sound, it’s an even higher bar to reach for. As Cities Burn do not touch on any previous territory here as the opt for a mixture of The Arctic Monkeys and Violent Femmes that seems like it will cause growing pains for many fans. Personally, it’s been quite a struggle adjusting to the new sound, but I’m sure many will embrace it quick. Who would have guessed, starting as heavy as they did, that ACB would be where they are today? It’s something to hear for sure, but I’m not sure just how great it will turn out to truly be.
