Topshelf Records‘ Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) have recently posted on their Facebook page, telling of how they flew to the United Kingdom and twice had their guitar broken by American Airlines. The guitar broke in its flight case once going to England and once going back, and American Airlines has apparently denied any responsibility or fault for this. The band has gone on the record to say that they’ve never had a problem flying with their guitar for any other airline, and they are encouraging fans to e-mail the airline letting them know their thoughts.
The band’s full statement reads:
“American Airlines broke my Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar AGAIN on the way back from England, despite it being in a flight case. For those of you who don’t know, that’s ONCE on the way to England where I get it professionally repaired, and then AGAIN on the way back. I spoke to a customer representative, and they denied any responsibility, despite photographic evidence and proof. AMERICAN AIRLINES DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I am not giving up, I want a new guitar and I need your help. Please share this status and e-mail deborah.odle-mancienne@aa.com to tell her to reconsider and for her company to take responsibility for their actions. Let’s see how many shares and e-mails it takes for a greedy company to own up for their mistake.” You can see the post yourself here.
