Jonny Craig, the Justin Timberlake of post-hardcore, is hard at work engineering another comeback attempt. That vibe permeates the whole of “Nobody Ever Will”, the newest single from Craig.

Seriously, this thing is soaked in late 90s/early 00s pop-R&B nostalgia. I mean, the thing opens up with a voicemail recording, as if people actually left voicemail messages any more.

Then there’s the bluesy guitar lick above the vintage sounding keyboards leading into the autotuned Craig self-harmonizing over a plush acoustic guitar riff. Of course, this is still a Craig track through-and-through, so his signature vocal histrionics are very much a part of the composition, especially towards the end as he protests that “all you gotta do is scream, girl”.

So is the track good enough to make listeners forgive or at least forget about Craig’s myriad past transgressions? Check out “Nobody Ever Will” after the jump and decide for yourself.
