SINGLE REVIEW: The Dangerous Summer – “Catholic Girls”

Artist: The Dangerous Summer
Single: “Catholic Girls”
Album: Golden Record
Label: Hopeless

The Dangerous Summer released a fantastic new track yesterday in “Catholic Girls.” It contains the right amount of influence and ingenuity to get all fans, old and new, overly excited for their new album, Golden Record, which is due out August 6 via Hopeless Records.

If there is any potential doubt (after losing two members in the last two years) it can be completely wiped away with “Catholic Girls.” It appears TDS is picking up right where they left off with 2011’s War Paint. The track is a steam-roller of emotional indie rock, gaining momentum from beginning to end. It takes the listener’s breath away on more than one occasion, such as the ridiculously passionate chorus from singer/bassist AJ Perdomo and the creative precision from drummer Ben Cato.

“Catholic Girls” is The Dangerous Summer. It contains all of the elements from these artists that their fans have grown to love — however, it holds something more. It has an overall essence to it, an almost undefinable element that is propelling the band to an elite level of songwriting. Maybe this element can be looked at as maturity or experience. Only time will tell as more music from Golden Recordunfolds. Check out the brand new music video from the band for the track “Catholic Girls” below:
