U2 Preview First New Song In Three Years In ‘Mandela’ Trailer

There’s no denying that U2 is one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Their 360 Tour, which ran from 2009 to 2011, holds the records for the highest-grossing and highest-attended concert tour in history, and all of their full-length records have been certified platinum. Their music has always matched the grand scope of their career, the group’s first new recording in three years is no exception.

A clip of the song premiered in the trailer for Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, which you can check out after the break. The film follows the life of South African revolutionary Nelson Mandela, with Idris Elba in the titular role, and it will see a limited US release over Thanksgiving weekend.

It’s unclear if the new song will appear only on the film’s soundtrack or if it will be included on U2’s upcoming record, which they hope to finish by the end of November and release sometime in 2014. It will be their first full-length since 2009’s No Line On the Horizon.
