Mixtape: Marco (WFFW) – ‘XVI’

WFFW member Marco has stepped out on his own with the release of a solo mixtape titled XVI.

You may recall the name WFFW from our list of great releases you may have missed from the first half of 2013, but this fall it’s all eyes on Marco as he thrusts his sixteen-year-old self into the national spotlight with a mixtape filled with killers. All seven tracks on his new mixtape showcase an understanding of hip hop and wordplay that is, at the very least, equal to the vast majority of his genre peers. You can stream and download the album at the end of this post.

Whenever someone starts to build a brand as young as Marco has there is a wave of haters who come out of the woodwork claiming their talent isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Having heard Marco across two albums in 2013 I can tell you that is not the case here. Marco has skills far beyond his years, and even though he could stand to lose a bit of the ego from his lyrics there is a lot of emotion put into everything he’s released. He’s at the top of the under eighteen rap game right now, and if he sticks with it I have the utmost faith he’ll become one of the best in urban music by the time he’s twenty-one. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on XVI.
