Bruce Springsteen To Release ‘High Hopes’ In January

January 2014 already had its fair share of highly anticipated releases, but Bruce Springsteen just turned it into the most exciting month in the foreseeable future. The rock and roll icon announced last night that he will release his eighteenth studio album, High Hopes, on January 14.

In a somewhat unconventional move for Springsteen, the album features two covers (lead single “High Hopes,” which you can hear after the break, and “Just Like Fire Would”), as well as a rerecorded version of “The Ghost of Tom Joad” and the first studio recording of live favorite “American Skin (41 Shots).” Even so, it’s unlikely many fans will be complaining, since the tracklist indicates that even the older material will rely heavily on Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, who has been playing with the E Street Band on recent tours. On paper, the match is an odd one, but anyone who has seen the Boss recently will tell you that Morello’s stunning guitar work only adds to an already electrifying performance.

Check out the artwork and full tracklist after the break.
