Several days ago, Pixies parted ways with their bassist Kim Shattuck, seemingly on good terms. The news came via Shattuck’s personal Twitter account; you can view the tweet after the jump.
Shattuck was added to the roster just this past July, following the departure of long time bassist Kim Deal back in June. The group has yet to issue any type of statement addressing the line-up change, and from all indications, hasn’t pinned down a replacement. According to Shattuck, her time with the Pixies was an “amazing experience,” and she will now focus her efforts on her other band, The Muffs.
Pixies recently released a music video for their track “What Goes Boom,” and additionally announced an extensive North American tour set to begin shortly after the new year; check them both out here.
As always, UTG will keep you up to date as this story continues to develop.
