The Week In Trailers (December 7, 2013)

Everyone has a different level of love for movies. Some people like to show up to the theater just in the nick of time to catch their flick, choosing to skip seeing the trailers before the feature. Others will make sure they arrive early enough to see all the previews so they can get excited for upcoming films. The Week In Trailers is for the second kind of people.

Here are a few trailers released in the last week all conveniently in one place for your viewing pleasure.

Reasonable Doubt

When a young District Attorney (Dominic Cooper) commits a fatal hit and run he does what any honest citizen would do: turn himself in. Yeah right, he totally lets the criminal (Samuel L. Jackson) that was found with the body take the fall for him but he does use his connections to throw the case to keep the criminal from jail. Unfortunately it looks like that man he helped stay free is actually a serial killer and it is up to him to stop him before he strikes again.

This thriller from Peter Howitt looks to be a great way to start the new year (it is set to release next January). At the very least we get to see Sam Jackson be Sam Jackson in a very sinister way.

Nurse 3D

In this pseudo-sapphic horror nurse Abby Russell lures men to their brutal deaths with her sexual prowess until a younger nurse at the nurse school (nursery?) begins to suspect her hidden hobby. Will she be able to stop her before becoming the focus of a probably deadly obsession?

Horror fans may have reason to rejoice this Valentine’s Day, as Nurse 3D looks like it could be this year’s My Bloody Valentine 3D. It may not end up being the greatest horror film ever (in fact, I would bet my left arm it wont) but that does not mean it wont be a fun way to satisfy your secret nurse fetish. Side note: any girl willing to see this film for her Valentine’s Day date is a keeper and should contact me immediately.

Scorned (Red Band)

What happens when you have a secret affair with another woman but then the first woman finds out about it? If you answered “Your girlfriend goes nuts and murder/tortures you and the woman you fooled around with.” then you already know the plot to Scorned, the upcoming VOD release starring Billy Zane and AnnaLyne McCord.

Scorned looks to be worth the price of a rental and may just be the cure for winter boredom come February 4th. It may be too cold to go out by then for us northerners but, luckily, this is one you will be able to enjoy from home.

Dom Hemingway (Red Band)

Jude Law stars as the titular Dom Hemingway, a hilariously vulgar criminal with an ego the size of an elephant, in this comedy/drama set to release on April 4th of next year. After having a near death experience this larger than life character will set out to make things right for his daughter but he will soon find that escaping the life he once lived will prove to be a greater challenge than anticipated.

It will be great to see Jude Law in a roll so unlike his usual typecast of romantic comedy goofball and if this trailer is any indication of how the entire film will feel Dom Hemingway could be a very memorable character comedy.

Back In The Day

As his high school reunion approaches Jim Owen (Michael Rosenbaum) returns home and reconnects with his old friends. Soon he begins to realize that maybe the thing he really needs is the life he left behind after graduation, including an old crush who moved on long ago.

This comedy features a funny cast including Nick Swardson and Harland Williams who should make up for the plot we have seen time and time again. Lets just hope this ends up being as funny as the trailer makes it seem instead of another beginning of the year disappointment.
