Required Listening: NEEDTOBREATHE – “Difference Maker”

Following the debut of “The Heart” earlier this week, a second new song from NEEDTOBREATHE has found its way online.

Yesterday, NEEDTOBREATHE launched preorders for their upcoming studio album Rivers In The Wasteland. As a thank you for ordering the record early, any fan who placed an order received an automatic download of “The Heart,” as well as another previously unreleased track titled “Difference Maker.”

Wearing their religious beliefs on their sleeves, NEEDTOBREATHE use “Difference Maker” to explore how their success has allowed them to change lives through action and lyrics. They’re not perfect, but by listening to the messages of their lord they feel they can be a positive influence on the world around them. That’s harder than it sounds, of course, but Bear and his bandmates are hopeful they will find the strength needed to push forward.

You can stream “Difference Maker” below.

Both “Difference Maker” and “The Heart” will appear on Rivers In The Wasteland, but if you do not have the money to pre-order the full album right now you can buy each song individually off iTunes. If you like what you hear, please click here and show your support.

Rivers In The Wasteland hits stores April 15.

“NEEDTOBREATHE use “Difference Maker” to explore how their success has allowed them to change lives through action and lyrics.” Is that statement based on a quote from the band? Seeing them perform Difference Maker live several times in concert, Bear Rinehart explains the song as mocking those who view themselves as more righteous than others because of their relationship with God. The song is an attack against those who are ‘holier than thou’. It is not, as your post implies, about being an actual difference maker.
