Watch Bruce Springsteen Cover Lorde’s “Royals”–No, Seriously.

Bruce Springsteen is one artist who clearly doesn’t buy into generational gaps. Throughout his career, the rock n’ roll legend has made a habit of taking fledgling acts under his wing, and additionally covered a wealth of music far outside the borders of his home-genre.

Currently, The Boss is touring down under, and as such, has been making a point to cover songs from notable Australian acts, most recently tackling AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” and The Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive.” However, last night in Auckland, NZ, Springsteen opened with an arrangement that no one expected–a solo rendition of Lorde’s “Royals.” Check it out after the jump.

In the coming weeks, the 64-year-old will be returning to the states before heading back out for an extended romp across Europe. If you’d like to see him (and you should), you can consult a full list of tour dates here.
