Kate Bush Touring for the First Time in 35 Years

It’s true.  Eclectic baroque pop woman and female music icon Kate Bush will be touring for the first time in 35 years in August and September of this year. It’s her first set of shows since 1979.

The 15 show series will take place at London’s Eventim Apollo starting August 26 as part of her Before the Dawn series of shows. “I hope you will be able to join us and I look forward to seeing you there,” she said on her website.

Kate Bush has only toured once before despite putting out albums every decade. The six-week tour was around Europe. She ended the tour after feeling the need to retreat, telling The Guardian, “I felt that my sexuality – which in a way I hadn’t really had a chance to explore myself – was being given to the world in a way which I found impersonal.”

For years, fans have been coming up with theories to explain her lack of touring, the best of which include a fear of flying, perfectionism, and respect for her lighting director, Bill Duffield, who was killed in an accident during her April 2, 1979 concert.

Tickets go on sale next Friday, March 28, and can be purchased here.
