UTG PHOTOS: Chuck Ragan & The White Buffalo (4/18/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Derek Scancarelli, to Irving Plaza in New York City to photograph Chuck Ragan & The Camaraderie on April 18, 2014.

Last week, you may have seen UTG TV’s exclusive interview with The White Buffalo. Briefly after the interview, I was fortunate enough to shoot the most well-crafted musicians I’ve seen in a while.

The eclectic sound and instrumentation of Chuck Ragan‘s newest musical endeavor is unrivaled in today’s musical climate. His straightforward and authentic approach to songwriting isn’t overwhelmed by the enormous stand-up bass or violin performing next to him on stage. Ragan, who you’ll recognize as the frontman of influential punk band Hot Water Music, has a genuinely appreciative and kind-natured personality which is what makes seeing him live so entirely necessary if you’re a fan of his recorded tunes. He’s a real “shoes off his feet” type of guy.

Jake Smith, who performs under the pseudonym The White Buffalo, also puts on a fantastic demonstration of how quality heartfelt music will always prevail in the chests and minds of listeners. It’s important to remember to immerse yourself into something once in a while. If you’re looking to relax and go on an emotional and intimate musical experience, Shadows, Greys and Evil Ways is probably your best bet in 2014.
