Caribou Announces New Album and Tour, Shares Single “Can’t Do Without You”

It’s been four years since Caribou‘s excellent LP Swim came out and got everyone up and dancing, including Radiohead. Daniel Snaith has released music since then under his other monikers, Manitoba and Daphni (the latter of which he dropped a split single with Owen Pallett in April), but now the Canadian composer and electronic musician is back with a new record and tour. The album, titled Our Love, comes out October 6 via City Slang in the UK and October 7 via Merge in the US.

In anticipation, Caribou has shared the album’s opening single, “Can’t Do Without You.” It’s a ’70s sounding dance that becomes a burst of bass and synth later on, creating the type of crescendo and layered fuzz headphones were made for. “I hope you like this song and can’t wait for you to hear the whole album,” Snaith posted on Caribou’s Facebook page. “Thank you for waiting so patiently for it – it’s taken me a long time but I hope you’ll agree it’s been worth the wait.”

Our Love was mixed by David Wrench and features guests Jessy Lanza and Owen Pallett. The artwork, done by Jason Evans and Matthew Cooper, can be seen above. “Can’t Do Without You” will come as a free iTunes download when the album is pre-ordered (purchases start tomorrow here).
