WATCH: First Trailer For ‘Leprechaun: Origins’

From Lionsgate and WWE Studios, Leprechaun: Origins is a reboot of the long-running horror franchise, featuring WWE Superstar Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl stepping into the massive shoes (figuratively speaking, of course) of Warwick Davis, who played the diminutive terrorizer in the six previous Leprechaun films, the first of which is responsible for introducing the world to Jennifer Aniston. The reboot appears to have a much more serious tone than the franchise’s latter sequels such as Leprechaun 4: In Space and Leprechaun in the Hood, as Origins takes the character back to his native land to wreak havoc on American tourists vacationing in Ireland.

The concept of Leprechaun: Origins seems like a bit of a regression for WWE Studios, taking them back to the days when they focused on producing generic genre fare starring their top wrestlers (see: Kane in See No Evil, Stone Cold Steve Austin in The Condemned). The studio has fared much better in recent years, releasing a series of well-recieved films from established directors, featuring real actors (The Call, Dead Man Down, Oculus).

Entertainment Weekly has premiered the first trailer from Leprechaun: Origins, which hits VOD on August 26 and home video on September 30. Check out the trailer below and let me know how wrong I am in the replies.
