Muse Get “Psycho” on New Track From ‘Drones’

Just yesterday, Muse announced their seventh studio album Drones would be released on June 9. Today, the band has offered up our first taste of new music from their follow-up to 2012’s The 2nd Law in the form of the groovy mid-tempo rocker “Psycho.”

After experimenting with everything from progressive rock to dubstep on their past few releases, Muse has suggested Drones would mark a return to the more hard rocking sound of their earlier records. “Psycho” seems to confirm just that. While the song’s message and lyrics come across as ham-fisted and borderline juvenile, the track should appeal to long-time Muse fans as the lead riff is an extension of an instrumental jam the band has been using as an outro/interlude at live shows for nearly a decade.

Check out the video for “Psycho” below, and stick around in the coming weeks for more Muse news as the first official radio single “Dead Inside” is set to premiere on March 23.
