Watch Subway Dancers Flip in The Afghan Whigs’ Video for “Matamoros”

If any alt-rock band is allowed to say “been there, done that,” it’s The Afghan Whigs. Earlier this year, the band returned with their first full-length release in 16 years: Do to the Beast. One of the album’s tracks, “Matamoros,” just got a new music video, and it could easily take place in 2014 or 1998.

The video is a super slice of New York City. Directed by Phil Harder (who also did their “Algiers” music video), the video shows the quick, tiresome, and eventful life of subway dancers. There’s a particularly rad routine by NYC crew W.A.F.F.L.E., so make sure to watch the whole thing. If nothing else, let this be your inspiration to get off the couch this summer and dance.
