Listen to FKA Twigs’ New Song “Video Girl”

After a lot of online buzz and some well-deserved hype, British experimental R&B artist FKA Twigs has three weeks left until her debut album, LP1, drops August 12 via Young Turks. In anticipation, she’s shared the second track off the record, “Video Girl,” which you can stream below.

Unlike the sultriness of “Two Weeks” and the hard-hitting specifics of “Hide,” the new single sees trip-hop and guitar strums intertwined as FKA Twigs once again brings pained words to life with her golden croon. In an interview with Pitchfork, she said the song was written after she “stopped being a video girl” — aka someone recognized on the street as a backup dancer in videos she was never a part of.
