ALBUM STREAM: Foxygen – ‘…And Star Power’

LA retro pop duo Foxygen will be dropping their sophomore LP, …And Star Power, on October 14 via Jagjaguwar. According to their press release, it’s 82 minutes of “soft rock indulgences, psych-ward folk, cartoon fantasia, D&D doomrock, and paranoid bathroom rompers” and sees help from Wayne Coyne, Bleached, Of Montreal’s Kevin Barnes, and White Fence’s Tim Presley. If you’re wondering what all of that sounds like, now’s your chance. The album is streaming in full starting today.

We’ve already heard the poppy “How Can You Really” and slow spiller “Cosmic Vibrations,” but now we get to check out the 22 other tracks. The two manage to pull sounds from every ’60s classic rock group. There’s the deadpan hum of The Doors’ organ, the snappy strut of The Rolling Stones, and the stringy guitars of The Kinks. Stream the album in full over at NPR to see for yourself.

Don’t forget the two will be heading out on tour along with seven other band members to deliver the Star Power experience. Think along the line of Jimi Hendrix, only less solos and kids half his age. It will be memorable, to say the least.
