Pelican is a post-metal band from Chicago that has been releasing music for more than a decade. They’re known as an exclusively instrumental outfit, which makes the new music they released today all the more interesting.
Pelican’s new EP The Cliff will be released on February 24. The album will feature three remixes of the title track, the original version of which appeared on the band’s 2013 LP Forever Becoming — one from Justin Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu), one from Aaron Harris and Bryant Clifford Meyer (ISIS/Palms), and a third version featuring vocals from Allen Epley (Shiner, The Life and Times). This marks just the second song in Pelican’s discography to feature vocals. Elpy also claims the band’s other lone vocal credit, previously singing on “Final Breath” from 2009’s What We All Come To Need.
The EP will also feature a brand new song. But for now, you can stream the new version of “The Cliff” below, courtesy of MetalSucks.
