UTG Track-By-Track: Tidus Is Alive – ‘Stuck In Limbo’

tidus is alive sep aside new single

Tidus Is Alive burst on to the alternative scene earlier this year with the release of his new EP, Stuck In Limbo. Mixing elements of both infectious pop rock hooks and brutal breakdowns a la A Day To Remember or Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, this one-man wrecking ball is set to take the states by storm with his own brand of melodic, heavy music.

Fronted by Denny Ranno, Tidus Is Alive released the compelling music video for “Step Aside” last week. The video portrays the energy found on the entire record, like a roller coaster of breakdowns and explosive choruses.

“Step Aside” — This is the first tune I wrote for the EP and basically it wrote itself. It came up in a really fast and natural way and for this reason I really love this song and I chose it as one of the two singles.

“Checkmate” — Even if this song talks about how a girl can pull you down hard, it actually does it in a very funny way. I used the chess reference to underline the different roles of a relationship where she’s the queen and you’re a just a pawn.

“Product Of My Will” — I originally named this song “army of one.” It had a lot of changes before the definitive version, both musically and lyrically. I remember that all the inspiration for this song came up usually in the night before I fell asleep.

“Dead And Reborn” — This was the second song I wrote with this project since I started it, It came out one year ago as a single and it was supposed to anticipate the recording process for the debut EP. The chorus is still one of my favorites.

“Pill of Hate” — Song title explains all; 1:55 minutes of hate. This track has a very hardcore mood and it really differs from others. For me, this is the most emotional song on the EP.

“Robin” — This is the most “pop punk” song on the EP. This track has a key role because the lyrics hide the EP’s concept. I really enjoyed tracking the vocals for this song, especially in the bridge. It consists of some harmonized a capella vocal parts on an electronic beat.
