Annihilation is nigh in new ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ trailer

They may have fixed the timeline in Days of Future Past, but all is not well for our favorite team of mutants in the newly released trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse.

Charles Xavier and his group of friends and students are set to face the most powerful mutant to have ever lived, fittingly referred to as Apocalypse. Judging from this trailer, it’s safe to say that their fight against a foe—that is for all intents and purposes a god—will be another worthy entry into the X-Men movie franchise.

The trailer uses some of the scenes found in last December’s teaser, and gives us some new footage to speculate on. New material includes Apocalypse gaining his powers in Ancient Egypt, a great bit with Quicksilver and his mother, and what appears to be Xavier Mansion lying in ruins. You can take a look at the full trailer below.

X-Men: Apocalypse, starring James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Olivia Wilde, and Michael Fassbender is set to hit theaters May 27.
