Next time you’re listening to a Lil Wayne or Birdman song and think, “Wow, this beat is great,” maybe it would be a grand idea to put a dollar in an envelope and mail it to the producer because it seems that’s the only way anyone working with Young Money gets paid anymore.
For the third time in seven days, the team of Lil Wayne & Birdman have been hit with a lawsuit claiming they never paid for beats and/or samples used on their albums. This time around, the suing parties claim the duo didn’t receive proper clearance before sampling Maggot Brain’s “You And Your Folks, Me And My Folks” on 2006’s “Army Gunz” (off the album Like Father, Like Song).
While we love Weezy hear at UTG, there is no excuse for not sharing the wealth, especially with those that made your career. Here’s hoping this can be sorted out soon and that Tha Carter IV arrives drama free in August (or whenever they finally release it).
