Dave Grohl Talks Queens of the Stone Age, Hints At Future Them Crooked Vultures Activity

Dave Grohl is The Busiest Man In Rock, no question. The guy always has stuff in the pipeline.

Grohl dished on some of his upcoming projects to CBS following a performance at the annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, DC this past Sunday. Was it more news about his soon to premier documentary? Were the Foo Fighters returning to active status? No, talk would be relegated to Grohl’s side projects (side projects that would likely be any other musician’s straight up projects). On performing in tribute to Led Zeppelin with the three still-living members of the band in attendance, Grohl was about as humble as anyone could be in that scenario. “It was one of the highlights of my life when John Paul Jones said, ‘Now I’ve been in two great bands,’” said Grohl in reference to his, Paul Jones, and Josh Homme’s collaboration as Them Crooked Vultures. It doesn’t sound like the group’s 2009 self-titled release was a one off arrangement either.

We’ve talked about it, I know that someday [Them Crooked Vultures will] get back together and do stuff, because we love playing with each other,” Grohl explained. But what of Queens of the Stone Age? Well, while Grohl will be the one playing on the stoner rock group’s new album (alongside original bassist Nick Oliveri), fans shouldn’t expect to see the drummer performing with the band live. According to CBS, Grohl has no plans to tour with QOTSA in the future. Bummer.

But you have to give the guy a break though. One wonders how Grohl can juggle even half of his high profile engagements. Maybe it’s all the coffee.
