The New ‘World War Z’ Trailer Is The Perfect Way To Start Your Week

Though there seems to be a significantly smaller amount of familiar characters at the box office this Summer, there will certainly still be a number of gigantic tentpole efforts released in hopes of carrying a major studio through the slower months ahead. Of all those films planned for Summer 2013, the one whose quality remains in question is none other than the book adaptation of World War Z. A new trailer arrived online today and, for once, I think it’s safe to say something truly epic is on the way.

Unless you have spent the better part of the year under a rock and far from television, it’s more likely than not that you have seen at least one ad for World War Z. The most popular clip opens with Brad Pitt and his family stuck on a crowded city street as all hell breaks loose and ends with what appears to be a flood of zombies rolling down a street towards civilians fleeing in panic. It all looks quite epic and bursting with CGI, but none of that imagery can prepare you for the clip found at the end of this post. Zombies are everywhere, as are explosions, and the scene on an airplane teased at the very end might as well come with a link to preorder screening tickets because it’s so goddamn cool you’ll be ready to hit up the cineplex by the time the title card appears. You can view the trailer below.

Directed by Marc Forster, World War Z stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Julia Levy-Boeken, Bryan Cranston, Danielle Kertesz, Matthew Fox and David Morse. The film opens nationwide June 21.
