Following a statement which appeared in a fan email newsletter, Albert Hammond, Jr. has denied that The Strokes are back in the studio.
“We don’t know anything yet. There’s no news or information. We’re not writing or doing anything – maybe individually we are, but it’s not like we’re in the studio or anything,” the Strokes guitarist revealed, according to NME.
The email primarily promoted Hammond’s latest solo effort, an EP entitled AHJ, which was released on October 8, and his upcoming tour, but also included a line about the band “toiling and writing, looking at 2014 for a return to the scene.”
The band’s most recent record, Comedown Machine, was released in March of this year.
