Paul McCartney Speaks to John Lennon While Writing New Material

The former Beatle has revealed that, when writing new music, he channels former bandmate John Lennon.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, McCartney discussed his bandmate (whom he lost in 1980 when he was murdered in NYC), his relationship to Yoko Ono and his feelings toward Mark Chapman, the man who shot Lennon.

“If I’m at a point where I go, ‘I’m not sure about this,’ I’ll throw it across the room to John,” McCartney told Rolling Stone. “He’ll say, ‘You can’t go there, man.’ And I’ll say, ‘You’re quite right. How about this?’ ‘Yeah, that’s better.’ We’ll have a conversation. I don’t want to lose that.”

McCartney released his latest album, New, on October 11.
