If you haven’t heard of Thao & the Get Down Stay Down, it’s time you tell your ears to start listening up. Right out of San Francisco comes a folk rock group whose leader, Thao Nguyen, is ready to march delicately with a baton in the air, her plodding, charming music trailing off it like a flag. You need to hear it, but be warned: their music is so good that it stops people in their tracks — literally.
While filming on the new segment of San Francisco’s Bay Bridge designed for bikes and pedestrians, Thao & the Get Down Stay Down had onlookers rubbernecking a bit too much as they recorded multiple action shots for their “The Feeling Kind” music video. The band had a permit from Caltrans to film the video there, but they wound up getting booted because their production was too distracting to drivers, causing a traffic backup.
Despite complications, the group still got enough footage to make quite a pretty (and fun) music video. You can watch it below:
