According to The Wrap, after nearly two years of uncertainty, DreamWorks Animation has officially assembled a cast for their adaptation of Dav Pilkey’s Captain Underpants.

The company won a bidding war over the rights to the 8-book, critically acclaimed series back in 2011, but until now has kept production details to a minimum.

Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch will play the lead characters George and Harold, two fourth graders who hypnotize their tyrannical principal into becoming the crime fighter Captain Underpants, who will be played by Ed Helms. Nick Kroll will act as the diabolical antagonist Professor Poopypants, while Jordan Peele is set to play the role of Melvin Sneedly, a classmate of Harold and George.

“These actors are some of the funniest around today,” said director Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens). “Letting them loose with these characters is sure to be a hysterical ride.”

Though the film is presently without a release date, UTG will keep you updated as more details surface in the coming months.
