Charli XCX Wants To “Break The Rules” And Put Out This New Album, ‘Sucker’

Many ages ago, in a time before “Boom Clap” and “Fancy” appeared against the radio horizon, Charli XCX released a candystriped single called “Superlove.” It was, presumably, a precursor to a second album. News of that second album was a long time coming, though. We got a few cool covers, and then, well, Iggy and The Fault In Our Stars swept us all away.

Now, though, we have word of that album. It’s called Sucker, and it’s out on October 21 via Neon Gold/Atlantic. This news is ushered in with a second, obviously-timed single called “Break The Rules.” The chorus for this single, released in late August, is “I don’t wanna go to school, I just wanna break the rules.” It’s punk rock for the pint-sized, a jam for the “Boom Clap” kids to skip to under the weight of their overladen backpacks.

Will that stop me, a college-aged man, from loving it? No. No it will not. I’ll like this more than the younger sisters it’s meant for. Listen below, turn up the volume, and scour Amazon for decent deals on those obnoxiously expensive textbooks. See you at the discotheque, by which I mean the fall tour dates
