Modest Mouse Stream Long-Awaited New Album, ‘Strangers To Ourselves’

For the first time in eight years (I was just getting my drivers license eight years ago — where were you?) Modest Mouse has released a new LP for the world to consume and criticize at their first convenience. The band dropped an exclusive stream of the record earlier this week via Spotify — you can listen for yourself after the jump.

According to an interview with hmv, fans shouldn’t have to wait nearly another decade for more new music from this experimental indie powerhouse. Isaac Brock, Modest Mouse mastermind, talked to the site about the band’s future.

“I’m pretty far along with the next one as it is,” Brock said in the interview. “I went in to making this one with two records in mind. It’ll be released as quickly as it’s legally allowed to be. It’s a partner to [Strangers to Ourselves].”

UTG resident indie-rock reviewer Corey From gave the record a 7/10 rating, saying, “I don’t think it’s going to be remembered as one of their best, but it’s certainly not their worst either.” What do you think? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
