Himsa was one of those bands from the early 2000s metalcore explosion that never quite got their due. They disbanded in 2008, but vocalist John Pettibone quickly resurfaced in yet another Seattle-based metal band called Heiress, albeit one with more of an atmospheric post-metal sound, complete with touches of sludge and melodic hardcore.
Heiress released their excellent debut LP Early Frost through Deathwish Inc. in 2013 and today have announced their sophomore full-length Of Great Sorrow, which will be available on Feb. 10 via The Mylene Sheath. A third album is already being tracked with producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, The Sword, The Blood Brothers) for a release later in 2015.
Heiress debuted the new track “Hover” through Noisey, and you can stream that below. U.S. tour dates are said to be forthcoming, so keep an eye out for those if you like what you hear.
