Under The Gun’s photographer Tori Thomas attended Gold Motel’s show at Grog Shop on July 18.
I showed up to Grop Shop expecting an awesome show, which is always achieved. The show consisted of two local artists, These Knees and Leah Lou & The 2 Left Shoes, and Gold Motel closing out the night. These Knees started off the night, and did an awesome job at it; I really got into their music. Next up was Leah Lou & The 2 Left Shoes, who blew me away. When they were setting up their gear, I was amazed by the DIY-ness of the band. They had trash can drums that made a full kit, a bike wheel, and the classic instruments, guitar and bass. During a few songs, they broke out the ukelele and bass ukelele. I instantly became a fan of their tunes, the DIY-ness and Leah’s voice really won me over. Then it finally came time for Gold Motel to take the stage. I’ve seen them a couple times before and this time was no different from the others, they put on a a great show. The only downfall to their set, was the red lights.
