LISTEN: Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin – “Nightwater Girlfriend”

Our Missouri favorites Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin took to their Facebook page to announce that their new single, “Nightwater Girlfriend,” was just released.

It’s been two years since we’ve heard new material from the indie-pop group. While 2010’s studio album Let It Sway is one we’re still spinning in 2013, it’s so exciting to be able to say there’s new music to be heard. “Nightwater Girlfriend” lets lo-fi fuzz wrap around the whole band, occasionally cutting out for a few measures of clean guitar and vocals before indulging in a garage-meets-summer-pop sound. A guitar line around the 2:10 mark plays off like a less repetitive riff from Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.” Listen to it below.

September 17 will see the release of their new album (check out the preview here) which we’ve been waiting for ever since our interview with vocalist Philip Dickey this past September. The record will be available on limited edition red vinyl and cassette, which you can pre-order the record through Polyvinyl Record Company right here. With “Nightwater Girlfriend” playing and the red vinyl of their new album in the checkout cart, it’s an understatement to say we’re looking forward to this album.
